An Interview on Peace, Polarity, and the Contentious Politics of Militarism
"A small power that chooses to play a great power’s game is a fool"
I was recently contacted by a journalist—an exceedingly common thing—and gave an unusually wide-ranging interview:
what’s wrong with American primacy,
whether to cheer or fear multipolarity,
whether New Zealand should want to join AUKUS, how to think about smaller powers in relation to “great” ones, and
the political divisiveness of militarism.
I’m not sure how much will eventually make it into print, but because I provided a written response to the interview questions (normally it’s a phone call or Zoom), I have my fully thought through words to share with newsletter patrons. ✌️
