Beware All Yellow-Peril Fanatics

Reuters has an investigation with smoking-gun proof that in the midst of the pandemic in late 2020, the Pentagon ran a global anti-vaccine disinformation campaign to inflate threat perceptions about China.

The Center for International Policy issued the following statement in response:

It is, of course, deeply scummy both to inflate geopolitical threats and to promote anti-vax propaganda designed to “sow doubt about the safety and efficacy” of China’s coronavirus vaccine. Even more so at a time when most of the global South faced the choice of accepting China’s vaccine or no vaccine at all because of the difficulty of accessing American supplies.
