Can An Open Letter Prevent Nuclear War?

Nah, but I signed one on Ukraine and NATO just in case.

I signed an open letter, along with dozens of other foreign policy wonks, making the case against Ukrainian membership in NATO. It was the top news item in Politico’s National Security Daily, and Politico ran a separate piece about the letter and its geopolitical context.

You can read the letter’s content and its list of signatories below, but I wanted to explain why I thought it was worth signing because the stakes are higher than many people appreciate and Ukraine policy has taken on an unhelpful political valence that makes seemingly everybody lose their minds.
