May be an image of text that says 'Most economies have significant but limited exposure to the US G20 exports to the US as % of each country's GDP, 2023 Mexico Canada South Korea Germany Japan Italy EÚ China UK South Africa India Brazil Indonesia France Saudi Arabia Turkey Argentina Australia Russia 5 10 Source: IMF 15 20 25 FINANCIAL TIMES'

The title question is a live one, a subtext behind every news article and social media post these days. But it’s such a ruptural question for people with a certain kind of narrative about how the world worked that few dare ask it directly.

We even see it permeating the culture:

Shoutout to China for real, man, because they not worried about what the fuck we got going on over here. They’re like, “Hey, while you guys are tripling and quadrupling your defense budget, we’re gonna be saving lives.” But honestly you gotta do that. When the whole world is your opps, you have to invest 90% of your fucking revenue in defense just in case, bro. Everybody else is figuring out renewable energy, and how to make their populations live longer. We’re just like, “We need more tanks, more guns!”

Truth in comedy. A few things to consider on a serious note though.
