I’ve stared at this tweet from JD Vance intermittently for several hours now, trying to make sense of how to think about it.
I’ll probably address this in the next Dumpster Fire edition of the podcast, but taken at face value, I agree with what it says. And he’s blasting Josh Rogin, an uber-hawk who exemplifies everything I’m against in foreign policy.
At the same time, Vance exemplifies everything I’m against in politics. Except, I guess, for this tweet.
Further complicating things, Syria is probably better off with Assad gone—it’s been hell for the working-class majority under his tyranny.
This evokes three provisional thoughts.
