Joe Rogan is Wrong: The Pentagon Can’t Kill Protesters

RFK, Jr., Ron Paul, and Joe Rogan have all echo-chambered a particularly alarming claim, which they’ve since made go viral:

DoD Directive 5240.01, giving the Pentagon power for the first time in history to use lethal force to kill Americans on US soil who protest government policies.

That would indeed be disturbing. The thing is, I read every word of DoD Directive 5240.01 (I used to have to write directives like this when I worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense). The Joe Rogan claim is totally untrue.
