Live! China Wargames and Nuclear Escalation
Wanted to give everyone a heads up that we officially have a Twitch channel now: https://www.twitch.tv/undiplomaticpodcast.
To kick things off, I’ll be doing a live episode on December 20, 3pm Eastern Time (which is tomorrow/today, depending when you see this).
If you want to join in real-time, I’ll be streaming the episode on Twitch and YouTube and will keep the chat open (I should be able to monitor chat in both places but don’t quote me on that).
The topic will be a recent report by CSIS and MIT called Confronting Armageddon: Wargaming Nuclear Deterrence and Its Failures in a U.S.-China Conflict over Taiwan. The authors did a video event that makes it easy to pick apart the report in a livestream format. I spent a good portion of my life playing and facilitating wargames, as well as analyzing theories of nuclear instability. Reading over parts of the report today, it’s clear I’ll have a few critical—even undiplomatic—thoughts to share on this topic.
