MAGA Geopolitics: Between Extinction and a New Dark Age

A trove of public statements from MAGA technocrats paints a picture of future foreign policy that makes “Genocide Joe” look quaint.

During the Trump years, I made a career doing battle with the Trump administration. As long as our policies put death into the world, it’s hard to be anything other than outspoken. Which is why I’ve also been one of the Biden administration’s most vocal critics.

But you must understand that these guys are not the same. Yes, Biden’s policies are supporting ongoing war crimes that could be credibly labeled a genocide. Yes, those choices are showing signs of spiralling into a regional war. And yes, both Trump and Biden are grand-strategic primacists in their own ways.

But what MAGA is literally promising to bring to foreign policy after 2024 is going to be truly horrific.
