Lee Jae-myung, the candidate who just decisively won South Korea’s presidency, is not exactly Bernie Sanders. Nobody is. But within South Korea’s political landscape, Lee Jae-myung (LJM) is progressive, and among the more populist elite politicians.1 So the comparison is not unreasonable.
I’ve already been asked by several media outlets what I think about his victory, aside from having a slight sense of relief.2
