Van, sorry to be slow in responding to this. All I can say is that here you're laying out the key elements of your "conversion." But the conversion is happening not in them, but in you— in fact, "you" is coming into being through them, or into being in a different, more conscious way through them. I'm sure you see the paradox you've entered into. You can't escape it. From what perspective, in what language do you talk about a change of consciousness? In other words— How is it that you become conscious of your consciousness in such a way that you can, or think you can, measure its emergence, transformation, growth, expansion? How do you step outside yourself to look at yourself? Note how the metaphors proliferate!— a sure sign that you're at what Rowan Williams calls (necessarily in metaphor) the "edge of words."
