Whose Side Are U On?
Un-Diplomatic meets the Lyricist's Lounge
Military conflicts are a form of class war. A “voluntary force” mostly drafted from the poor. With permanent wars, can’t afford a middle class—it’s more than just the troops who catchin’ bullets in the ass.
While Raytheon and Boeing offer stock buybacks, you can thank our surplus labor that still occupies Iraq. Paying Palantir to prep for World War 3, we never think it’d force us into austerity. But can’t we have welfare and an Anduril drone? Not if the latter means the troops will simply never come home.
What home? The one you can’t afford and probably never will. Trillion-dollar war machine but can’t afford to get ill.
So from one vet to another, my message to all who serve—obey unlawful orders, make the regime you deserve.
